Eoin O Conaill

People in Places

These landscapes and portrait images explore the idea of modern Ireland.

The work focuses on the public space and the relationship btween people and the landscape. O'Connel states: "I am interested in the visual contradictions embedded in the present, the building waiting to be transformed, the land newly concreted". The use of light withing these images, generally made in the early morning or late evening, reflects and responds to the transition between what is vanishing and what is newly emerging.

After studying Photography in Sallynoggin College, he completed a degree in Photography in 2003. He has also just completed a three-month national residency in Belmont Mill Studio in Co. Offaly.
